During the course of this class I have experienced
many firsts. This is the first time I blogged, the first time I made an online
video, and the first time I used power point. The frustration of the learning curves felt overwhelming,
but as I became more comfortable and confident the curves smoothed out. I found
that I actually enjoyed these tools and I will use these skills both in my
personal and professional life.
The blogging was a great way to learn about my
peers. Usually, online classes feel so impersonal, but the blogs gave a face
and a personality to the person. It
allowed me to connect on a personal level to my peers. As a future forest
ranger I could use a blog to keep my co-workers up to date or to inform the public.
Online videos are a quick way to get ideas and information across to people. Power Point was intimidating, but I rapidly
realized that this is a great tool for presentations. The formatting is simple to use, yet it makes
a dramatic professional impact. Of all three of these tools I enjoyed the power
point the most as I can see myself using this in many facets.
I appreciated Mrs. Cline’s patience, guidance and
support with me on technology. I made many mistakes that seemed trivial, but
she pointed out the seriousness of these mistakes. Especially copyright
infringement, in this day and age it is so common (and often innocent enough),
but very serious. I now have the
confidence to explore new online tools. Next up, Glogs and Prezis. Then who knows?

ReplyDeleteWe did it! Congratulations on being so close to the end of this class and thank you for all your valuable feedback. I agree that the amount of technologies we used in this class was more than I expected, however, I am glad we meet these challanges head on because now we have tools we can utilizes in the future. Good Job!
I couldn't agree more David! This class also gave me many firsts. I never thought I'd have a blog, but now that it's all said and done, I'm thankful for that part of the class. Like you said, it helped to make online learning less inpersonal. I enjoyed getting feedback and criticism on my writing and it was nice to have people who are going through the same thing. I've enjoyed all your blog posts this semester man and good luck to you on future academics! It's been nice having class with you! Take care!

If you think the stuff before was aggravating or hard to learn, wait until the Final Presentation. I'm working on it now, and the bloody thing is pretty darn difficult to figure out. I can't seem to get my video embedded onto my blog.
ReplyDeleteArg. Double Arg.
David,
ReplyDeleteI can relate to you in many ways in regards to this post. I also did not have experience nor knowledge of making videos or blogging. I had done a few power points in previous classes, and I too think that power point is a fairly simple technology that makes a professional looking presentation. I also had some touch patches learning the new technologies and Mrs. Cline was also patient and very helpful in teaching me how to do these.
